Tata Nano - The World's Cheapest Car

Tata Nano is a low cost,four-passenger and rear-engined car produced by the Indian Automaker Company Tata Motors.This car is targeted mainly at the Indian domestic market.Tata Motors began selling this car in March 2009.It is also known as "one-alkh car",due to its price point near 100,000 Indian Rupees. On-line sources claim that it the world's cheapest city car today.However,the price of this car is continuously rising due to the soaring material costs.

Tata owner Ratan Tata has described the Nano as a "milestone". "I think we are at the gates of offering a new form of transport to the people of India and later, I hope, other markets elsewhere in the world," said Mr. Tata.He also said,"I hope it will provide safe, affordable four-wheel transportation to families who till now have not been able to own a car."
The basic model of Tata Nano called "Nano" has no air bags,power steering,radio or air conditioning.However more luxurious versions equipped with more advanced features are also available.Currently the factory is producing three variants of Tata Nano i.e., Nano,Nano CX and Nano Lx.Some salient features and specifications of this "one-lakh car" are described below:
