Miss World Beauty Pageant

According to wikipedia,Miss World Beauty Pageant is the oldest major surviving international Beauty Pageant.It was inaugurated by Eric Morley in 1951 in UK.It was introduced as a part of the Festival of British Celebrations.The audience this Beauty Pageant attracted led to the success of this event.The first Miss World Pageant attracted a huge global audience which was much more than international events like World Cup and Olympic Games.It was started as the Festival Bikini Contest.First Miss World was Sweden's Kiki Haakonson.She was the first and the last Miss World who had been crowned in two-piece swim suit.As this dress was considered obscene,so it raised many eye brows and grabbed head lines.That's why after first contest, the dress code for the contestants of this Beauty Pageant was replaced with more modest swim wear.

Beauty is defined as the quality present in a thing or person that gives pleasure to mind and senses.Beauty is associated with harmony of form and colour.Since human beings have natural  tendency to see symmetry in all objects that's why any thing symmetrical in shape usually looks beautiful and attractive.It is commonly believed that beauty of a human face lies in symmetry of its shape and harmony of its colour.It is a commonly believed myth that people who have more symmetrical faces are considered more beautiful and attractive.The images shown below are a part of the project  "Echoism",which exploits facial symmetry to create two separate and symmetrical identities of the same person."Echoism plays with the notion of your own identity".Echoism is the project by artist Julian Wokenstein,which focuses on facial symmetry.The term echoism relates to facial symmetry in its Physiognomical sense.
Under this project a series of photographs were taken by Julian Wokenstein.The subject was photographed by a camera right in front of his face.As a part of study,under this project,the subject being photographed was asked to keep his face expressionless when he was being photographed.Each photograph was then split into a left and a right section.One side was horizontally flipped and then two pictures were recombined to create two separate and symmetrical identities of the same person.This is an interesting idea to play with the facial symmetry of a person.I hope you would enjoy these images shown below:
